Slightly soiled and stained. Top edge gilt. Other edges untrimmed. Original endpapers. Half title. Photogravure frontis. 46 plates. Illustrations in text. Large folding map in a pocket in the rear board. A bit of spotting early on otherwise in very clean condition. A superior copy of book that is often foxed and worn due to its weight and thickness. Neate. F36. There also was a limited edition of 60 copies signed and numbered and printed on Japan. Fitzgerald was an accomplished climber but did not endear himself to the New Zealand climbing community. He did not make the first ascent of Mount Cook and both the book and his climbing outlook alienated him to local climbers. There are few different reprints of the book but this first edition is a wonderful production and a welcome edition to a climbing library.

Original 1915 edition of The Book-Method of Bible Study by noted Bible scholar and Moody Bible Institute instructor Rev. William Evans (1870-1937). Published by The Bible Institute Colportage Association of Chicago, this instructional work was designed to teach a systematic approach to studying individual books of the Bible and was widely used in early twentieth-century evangelical Bible institutes, church study groups, and ministerial training. This copy retains its original publisher's cloth binding with blue lettering on the front cover and black lettering on the spine. The binding remains sound with moderate rubbing, edge wear, and scattered discoloration consistent with age. Corners show light wear, and the spine has moderate shelf wear but remains completely legible. Internally, the text is complete and clean with light age toning and occasional scattered foxing. Hinges are secure and pages remain firmly attached. Of particular interest is an early ownership inscription on the front free endpaper reading: "Mrs. C. H. Young - Aug. 1925 - Dr. Evans at Montreat." This inscription appears to reference William Evans while teaching at Montreat, North Carolina, an important Presbyterian conference and educational center during the early twentieth century. While not constituting an author inscription, it provides appealing contemporary provenance connecting the volume with Evans' ministry and conference work. Publisher's advertisements remain present at the rear. A desirable early Moody Bible Institute-related publication with attractive period provenance. Condition Details Good overall condition. Original cloth binding. Moderate rubbing and shelf wear. Light wear to spine ends and corners. Spine lettering clear and readable. Sound binding. Light age toning throughout. Scattered light foxing. Early ownership inscription on front free endpaper. No bookplates observed. No highlighting or extensive marginalia noted. Complete.
