PAB [Pierre-André Benoit], affiche originale pour son exposition à l'Hôtel de Ville d'Uzés, du 17 au 24 mai 1983, dans le cadre de l''action poétique audio-visuelle"", signée PAB au crayon sous le dessin et justifié par l'artiste 9/10. Dimensions : 36x26cm. Papier violet. Encre noire. Pierre-André Benoit a créé le dessin spécialement pour l'affiche de cette exposition — le dessin original est en main privée — dont il a tiré lui-même 10 exemplaires de tête tous justifiés et signés au crayon. Ce tirage offset extrêmement rare a été réalisé à l'Atelier Sérigraphie de Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie. Toutes les affiches de la série (nous avons vu les 10 de tête + quelques exemplaires non justifiés/non signés) ont toujours des petits défauts d'impression (cf. photo où l'on peut voir deux petites bandes noires à gauche de la signature de PAB. Les 8 exemplaires de tête restant étant en main privée, il va sans dire que les deux exemplaires que nous proposons (5/10 et 9/10) sont de la plus grande rareté. * ** Poète, imprimeur, éditeur, collectionneur, Pierre André Benoit dit PAB (1921-1993), natif d'Alès, connut un destin éditorial hors norme. En 1986, il fit don de sa collection d'œuvres d’art à sa ville natale, Alès, et de ses collections littéraires à la Bibliothèque nationale de France (réserve des livres rares et précieux). Peintures, gouaches, dessins, estampes, sculptures, livres d'artistes : près de 425 ouvrages. Le château de Rochebelle fut acquis par la ville d’Alès pour y accueillir en 1989 le Musée-bibliothèque Pierre-André Benoit, soit des peintures, gravures et sculptures d'Alechinsky, Arp, Braque, Bryen, Hugo, Mirò, Picabia, Picasso, Survage, Vieira Da Silva, etc., des livres illustrés par ces artistes avec des textes de Breton, Char, Dubuffet, etc.

First edition, first impression. Presentation copy. Signed and inscribed by the author to the front endpaper verso. A little rubbing to board edges and small area of fading to spine head, else very good or better and internally clean. The original and unclipped dust jacket has some slight fading to spine panel and a small area of loss to spine head, otherwise very good.

Dust jacket has a short closed tear to the bottom edge - mended with sticky tape, Top corner of the jacket at the back moderately bumped. Asmall mark to the bottom of the spine and a few tiny chips to the edges of the wrapper. No. 3462 of edition limited to 4,000. Original owner's name on fly leaf. Fly leaves and end papers front and back have some marks from old sticky tape which is no longer present. See scans. Otherwise, the interior is in very nice coindition. Any other imperfections minimal/negligible. Overall, a nice copy of this first edition of the first book in the series. This book is very heavy, so international buyers will need to contact for amended cost of postage. 320 pages. Book doesn't fir scanner.
